Aaron and the Start of the Nine Days
The nine days starting with the first day of the Hebrew month Av, mark the beginning of a period of intensified Jewish mourning and introspection. The First of Av is also the day that Aaron, Moses’ brother and spiritual leader of the Jewish nation, died. This talk looks to establish the link between Aaron’s death and the beginning of the Nine Days. Specifically, it seeks to learn lessons from Aaron’s life as tools to help end the need for mournful contemplation and the long national exile.
